The original main gate into Darlington's Upper School campus was erected in 1929, six years after the School moved to the former DeSoto Park and 24 years after the School was founded. The gate was presented to Darlington by Gordon Lee Hight and his sister, Bess Hight Sullivan, as a memorial to their parents, Charles Alexander and Mary Lee Hight.
