Summerbell House is one of six residence halls on the Darlington campus and occupies the top two floors of South Hall. Summerbell is one of three houses for male boarding students.
Summerbell House is named in honor of former faculty member Jack Summerbell, who worked at Darlington from 1959 until his retirement in 1998. The former history department chairman taught every course in the history curriculum at some point during his tenure. He also served as master of day school from 1971 to 1985 and then as academic dean.
