Melja has taught second grade at Darlington since 2012. She holds a B.S. in Education from Bowling Green State University, an M.S. in Education from Nova Southeastern University, Georgia State Teaching Certification and Florida/Georgia State ESOL Endorsement. Melja ran track throughout high school and college, and was a hurdler for Bowling Green. Previously, she spent eight years teaching at Spirit Elementary in Deltona, Fla., and coaching at Deltona High School. Her husband’s name is Kevan.

Second-graders celebrated the upcoming arrival of Baby Watkins by throwing a book shower for their teacher! The students had fun predicting the baby's weight and length, played lots of fun baby games and enjoyed special treats.

Smith to lead ELA-8 Director Search Committee

Randy Smith, sixth- and seventh-grade science teacher, has been named chairman of the ELA-8 Director Search Committee. As such, he will lead the national search to find a replacement for Dr. James Hutchins, who has accepted a new position as president/headmaster at The Donoho School.

Boys' track and field team wins 5th consecutive Area Championship in dominant fashion

The boys' track and field team won the two-day Area Championship, held at Whitefield Academy and Mount Pisgah. Darlington scored 186.5 points, well ahead of Runner-Up Mount Pisgah's 123.

The girls' track and field team had a tight, back-and-forth battle with Walker, coming out on top by a score of 116-114 to secure their fifth consecutive area championship.
