The girls' track and field team had a tight, back-and-forth battle with Walker, coming out on top by a score of 116-114. The score at the end of Day 1 (field events and running prelims at Whitefield Academy) was tied at 55.
The girls had an outstanding Day 2 at Mount Pisgah and fast times in the running finals led to a 2 point victory.This marks the girls' 5th consecutive Area Championship (the previous 4 titles were Region 6A).

The girls' team was led by seniors Terar Stewart, who won the discus and shot put, and EJ Newbern, who won the pole vault.
The girls' had eight athletes qualify for the Sectional meet, which will be held April 27 at Landmark Christian School. The top 8 individual finishers in each event from Sectionals will qualify for the State Championship, May 9-11 in Albany.
