Heather Shores

History Teacher, Upper School

Heather Shores has taught Upper School history since 2022. She holds a B.A. in History and an M.A. in History from the University of West Georgia. Shores has 20 years of experience in the field of public history, 16 of those in teaching college-level courses. Most recently, she served as executive director of Chieftain’s Museum in Rome, program specialist and bookkeper for Georgia Career & Technical Instruction, and part-time history faculty member at Georgia Highlands College. She received Georgia Highlands’ “Thank a Teacher” Award in the spring of 2020 and the spring of 2021. Shores has also taught at Dalton State College and Kennesaw State University and worked as a coordinator at several museums and history centers.

Summer Professional Development: Training for New College Advisors

I had the opportunity to attend the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling (SACAC) Summer Training Seminar in Asheville, N.C., in July. The purpose of the seminar is to give new college counselors an overview of the college application and acceptance process as well as a forum to discuss emerging topics in the college admissions process.
