Darlington pre-K through second grade students got to participate in the Rome Area Council for the Arts and Redmond Regional Medical Center's Heart Health Month statues. Students created a beautiful heart garland that celebrated the fact that process is just as important as the product.

Cleveland shares interdisciplinary, cross-divisional lesson on national stage

Upper School Spanish teacher Crystal Cleveland recently presented on how to create an interdisciplinary experiential learning unit at ACTFL's Annual Convention and World Languages Expo in San Diego. The educator has successfully integrated art and history into her Spanish 4 class, enabling students to teach pre-kindergarteners about the prehistoric civilizations of modern-day Spain.

Last summer, I traveled to Spain to research the evolution of cultural expression through the Wood Faculty Professional Endowment Award. I was able to "bring Spain" back to pre-K and Spanish 4 students, using an interdisciplinary approach to demonstrate how the past affects the present and informs the future.
