Matthew Peer

Director of Upper School

Matthew was named director of Upper School in 2014 after serving as director of student life since 2010 and men's lacrosse coach from 2012-2014. Prior to his work at Darlington, he taught history, worked in the Dean's Office and coached football, hockey, and lacrosse at Avon Old Farms in Connecticut and the Cardigan Mountain School in New Hampshire. Matthew holds a B.A. in Sociology from St. Lawrence University and an M.A. in Liberal Studies from Wesleyan University. He and his wife, Jessica, a teaching assistant in Darlington's Early Learning Academy, live on campus and are the parents of Jackson (’24) and Ella ('27).

Reid Owens has joined the Darlington Community as a Spanish teacher at the Upper School this year. His four years of teaching experience include serving as an adjunct instructor and graduate instructor at the University of Alabama as well as teaching English to native Spanish speakers in Grenada Spain.

Wagshuls join Darlington staff

Jon and Nan Wagshul will be joining the Darlington Community this fall, having recently relocated from San Antonio. Jon will serve as chairman of the Upper School history department, and Nan will be the admissions associate in the Admission Office. They have one daughter, a rising Darlington sophomore named Grace.
