At Darlington, some of the most exciting learning happens when students take their curiosity beyond the classroom and into real-world challenges.
This year, our Upper School students have done exactly that, earning impressive results in STEM competitions across the State of Georgia.
In the Georgia Student Technology Competition, several Darlington teams advanced to the state level in programming, robotics and app development. Among them, Michelle Xiong and Larry Lang stood out, earning first place in the state robotics competition for their division. Larry was also recognized as the highest-ranking senior and awarded a scholarship.
In the Georgia Programming Competition, Tony Zhai, Ray Lu, and William Zhang placed ninth in the state in a highly competitive division, demonstrating both technical skill and strong teamwork.
In the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair, Darlington reached an exciting milestone. While the school is relatively new to this competition, three students advanced to the state level: Paul Lyu, Chaeboem Lim and Jackie Yao. Advancing to state is a significant accomplishment, and these students represented Darlington with excellence. Jackie Yao earned both the Inspiring Excellence Award and recognition as a Young Inventor, and Paul Lyu was named Best in Category for Robotics and Intelligent Machines.
These accomplishments are worth celebrating, and they also tell a larger story about how students learn and grow at Darlington.
Our students are not waiting for opportunities to come to them. They are building, designing, coding, and problem-solving because they are genuinely interested and motivated to explore their passions.
Darlington’s role is to support that initiative. We provide the environment, resources, mentorship and opportunities that allow students to pursue their interests at a high level. Whether through competitions, faculty guidance or encouragement to take on ambitious challenges, we help create the path forward.
From there, it is our students who make the most of those opportunities.
Their curiosity drives them to begin. Their dedication pushes them to excel. Their achievements show what is possible when passion meets opportunity.
