Day #SeniorSpotlight: Julia Beauchamp

Maddie Chastain | March 25, 2025 | 175 views

A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

Let’s get to know Julia Beauchamp, a four-year day student from Rome who serves as president of the Concert Choir and member of the Darlingtones female a cappella group.

When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?

Growth, involvement, community

What song reminds you of high school?
"Homeland” by Gustav Holst/arr. Z. Randall Stroope

What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“Little Voice”

What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?
Doug’s Deli

What house are you a member of?
Thornwood

What are you involved in?
I am president of Concert Choir, head of performing arts on Arts Council, a member of varsity cheer, a member of theater, a member of Darlingtones a cappella group, a member of TOME Literacy Society, a member of Inkslinger, a member of Varsity Library, and a member of Model UN

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
Ms. Smyly because she always pushes us in cheer to do our own individual best, while also remaining members of a team.

If you are involved in fine arts, what is your favorite activity and why?
My favorite activity is choir because it has allowed me to grow not only in musical ability, but also in confidence. It has also allowed me to be a part of such a special group of people who always give it their all and are just as passionate about it as I am.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
The choir room because my friends and I always hang out there during office hours, and it has always felt like such a safe space for me.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Ms. Johnson because she truly cares so much for each of her students individually, and has helped me so much by helping me realize I am capable of so much more than I think I am.

What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
My favorite thing about Darlington is the campus. Getting to study in such a beautiful space is something I am so grateful for, and even just getting to walk by the lake every morning on my way to class gives me peace.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
RUMPUS!! RUMPUS is such a special weekend, and I love getting to connect with people in my house that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise. Lip Sync is pretty great, too.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I feel like I have grown in self-confidence since coming to Darlington. At Dar, I’ve been able to have more confidence in my ability to show up fully as myself, and not be afraid to go outside of my comfort zone, because I know I’ll have the best group of friends cheering me on.

What is your dream job?
I’m not entirely sure, but I'd love to do something with music!

If you have already committed to a college, please let us know which one you will be attending.
