Alumni Council welcomes 5 new members

Alumni Council President Kristen Rachels (’05, LD ’16) announced that five alumni have been elected to serve on the council for the next three years. 

Bau Cherry (’07, LD ’20), a former boarding student, owns BCI Drywall and Finishes company, a commercial contracting company that focuses on metal framing, insulation, carpentry, drywall, doors and hardware, acoustical ceilings, architectural ceilings, and exterior facades. He graduated from University of Mississippi and has stayed involved with Darlington through Darlington Connects, Leadership Darlington, and support for The Darlington Fund and other school projects. He and his family live in Katy, Texas.

Alex Ezell (’94, LD ’20) came to Darlington as a boarding student from Albany, Ga., and went on to graduate from the University of Georgia. He has stayed connected with Darlington through the years, first as a faculty member from 2004-2006 and then as Career Day speaker and Leadership Darlington participant. He currently works as a senior engineering manager with OneStudy Team. Ezell lives on a horse farm in Owensboro, Ky., with his wife, Danielle (’95), and son, Ollie.

Vic Hixon (’92, LD ’24) is a Rome native who came to Darlington as a day student. He received his MBA from Shorter University and is currently involved as a parent, Leadership Darlington graduate and Darlington Fund supporter. Hixon works as a connections coach and academic recovery specialist for Rome City Schools and is currently involved in the Rome community as deacon at his church and on the Rome/Floyd Planning Committee. He previously served as president of the local chapter of the NAACP and owner and director of operations for the professional basketball team the Rome Gladiators. 

Dave Huguenel (’03, LD ’23) came to Darlington from Louisiana as a boarding student. He met his wife, Jody (’05), while a student. Huguenel has been involved in politics since leaving Darlington and has lived all over the country. He currently serves as senior vice president for Go Big Media Inc., a political consulting firm. His family made the decision to move to Rome a few years ago to raise their two young children. Since being back in Rome, he has gotten reengaged with Darlington as a Career Day speaker and Darlington Fund volunteer.  

Kim Parnell (’98, LD ’23) is a former boarding student who has chosen Rome as her home. She works as senior customer success manager with Cvent, a software development company. Parnell graduated from Georgia State University and serves the community through her work on the board of the Children’s Museum and as a wish granter with Make-A-Wish Georgia. She is currently serving as class agent and is both a Leadership Darlington graduate and a supporter of The Darlington Fund.
