Members of the middle school track and field team have broken school records in the 4x100 relay, 400-meter dash, the triple jump and the 1600 meter during the 2023 season.
The girls' 4x100 relay team broke the middle school girls' record, running the relay in 52.78 seconds. Members of the relay team are Kendall Dixon, Ivey Dunn, Molly Ledbetter and Evie Shropshire. Dixon is a sixth-grader from Cartersville and is the daughter of Chelce and Chad Dixon. Dunn is a seventh-grader from Rome and is the daughter of Jessica and Dr. Justin Dunn. Ledbetter is an eighth-grader from Rome and is the daughter of Lauren and David Ledbetter. Shropshire is an eighth-grader from Dunwoody, Ga. and is the daughter of Amy and Paul Etheridge and Andy Shropshire.
Kameron Skoniezcny broke the middle school boys' record for the 400-meter dash, running the race in 54.87 seconds. Skoniezcny is an eight-grader from Rome and is the son of Shanika Skonieczny.
Nora Knaak set a new middle school girls' record in the triple jump with a jump of 30 feet and 3 inches. Knaak is an eighth-grader from Rome and is the daughter of Dr. Mandy and Dr. Ben Knaak.
Soren Chapman set a new middle school boys' record in the 1600 meter, running the race in 4:58.94. Chapman is an eighth-grader from Rome and is the son of Heather and Stephen Chapman.
