Jaclyn Haynes is joining the Darlington Community as Upper School chemistry and environmental science teacher. With over 16 years of teaching experience, Haynes has taught science at several area high schools, most recently at Rome High School.
“Jaclyn brings a wealth of teaching experience to the science department and we are excited for her to integrate her skills and techniques into her classes here at Darlington,” said Matt Peer, Upper School director. “I’m also excited to see Jaclyn incorporate her love of nature into our iPeriods!”
Haynes holds a B.S. in Biology from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Georgia and Master of Education in Educational Technology from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She has also completed graduate-level gifted coursework at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
“I am excited that my 17th year as an educator will be at Darlington School where I will have the opportunity to contribute to an amazing learning community,” said Haynes. “I feel fulfilled in the classroom when students experience the way that science impacts their daily life; these moments are some of the most powerful and memorable educational experiences.”
Haynes is married to Lee and they have two children, Holt (5) and Nora (18 months).
“Strong relationships are what help me thrive as a teacher. I believe knowing and understanding my students is essential to fostering a learning environment,” she said. “My son will be attending kindergarten and is equally as enthusiastic about becoming a Tiger!”
