As part of her Senior Ventures Project, "The Power of Reading," senior Sophie Piller facilitated a special visit to the fifth grade with fellow seniors, Murray Ellington and Jaylen Patel. The seniors talked about some of their favorite books with the fifth-graders, and then Murray and Jaylen read a few chapters of "The Slugger’s Shadow" by Bob Temple to the class.
Sophie’s project focuses on promoting reading and its benefits across all grade levels at Darlington and bridging the gap in young readers that often begins as they enter adolescence. She is planning to partner with Thatcher Hall throughout the year by bringing in guest readers who celebrate the value of reading and encourage our students to be lifelong readers.
