Zoology & Green Team Win Top Science Award

Wednesday, April 23, 2025 | By Owen Kinney | 137 views

Zoology seniors and our Green Team joined forces to earn the top award along with a $2000 grant at the Coosa River Basin Initiative's Student Symposium for Watershed Innovation and Management at Berry College. Their oral and poster presentations, titled "Sowing the Seeds of Stewardship," outlined their ongoing efforts to catalog biodiversity and improve wildlife habitats on Darlington's campus. The Coosa River Basin Initiative and Georgia Power hosted the symposium for student groups across Northwest Georgia.

The team was also invited to host a booth at Tellus Museum's STEAM Week back in early April, where they showed hundreds of visitors how they too can get involved with citizen science projects related to wildlife conservation.

We would like to send out a big THANK YOU to Larry Spencer at Plant Life Nursery for his mentorship and his very generous donation of $300 worth of native perennials for our new pollinator garden at the science building.
