Over winter break, students from the Pre-K to 8 division participated in The Late Night Library, an exciting bingo board-style reading challenge designed to foster a love for books and independent reading. Each student received a bingo board filled with fun reading challenges such as “Share a picture of yourself reading outside,” “Share a book with a family member,” and “Visit your public library.”
The program encouraged students to explore various genres, from picture books and fairy tales for younger readers to historical fiction and fantasy novels for middle schoolers. As they completed each activity, students checked off squares, with the ultimate goal of completing a row, column, or even the entire board!
Families joined in on the fun, creating cozy reading spaces at home and discussing their favorite stories. When school resumed, participants who completed the entire board celebrated their efforts with a special pajama day!
The Late Night Library was a fun and cozy way to keep students engaged in learning during the holiday season while building a community around the joy of reading.
