Fifth-graders read Gary Paulsen's adventure novel, "Hatchet," as their first novel in literature. The story's protagonist, Brian, must find a way to survive in the Canadian wilderness after his plane crashes. As part of our annual "Hatchet Day," students were challenged with creating their own fishing pole to catch fish in Silver Lake. This year class caught 23 fish!
