Students in Ms. Shores's 11th grade AP U.S. History classes participated in a review activity to prepare for the AP exam. Each student was assigned four to six events in U.S. history to describe and analyze, then collaborated with their classmates to arrange the events in chronological order. Students were then required to choose the five events from the timeline they felt were most important in U.S. history. As a whole, the class participated in a bracket-style challenge to vote on which event was ultimately the winner. Events chosen as the top winners included the creation of the Declaration of Independence, the effects of the transatlantic slave trade, European contact with the Americas by Columbus and westward expansion.
