Egg Drop: Designing a Collision Safety Device

Friday, January 19, 2024 | By Monisha Patel | 1080 views

Students in Mrs. Patel's honors physics and physics 1 classes learned about momentum and impulse by doing a new version of the classic egg drop experiment. Using no more than 10 sheets of 8.5" x 11" copier paper and one meter of masking tape, students working in groups of three designed and built a safety device (landing pad) that would protect a raw egg. Each group then tested the effectiveness of their landing pad by dropping a raw egg onto the landing pad from increasing heights.
