For the Community Service Project on Dot Day this year, Mr. Murdock's advisory went just down the road to the South Rome Community Garden located on West Main Street. The project was in partnership with both the South Rome Community Garden and the ECO Center of Rome, Ga.
South Rome is a designated "Food Desert" which means that there are no full service grocery stores within a certain radius of the area. Many residents of the area rely on the produce grown in the Community Garden for short and long term food supply. We replaced and reinforced boards in the raised beds, re-mulched and added top soil to existing beds and weeded numerous beds for residents to plant fall crops.
