The fourth-graders raised over $500 on their own by giving from their heart to a family in need.
We found out about the family through the Floyd County Sheriff's Department. The family had missed the cut off date to recieve support from the sherriff's office, but the office took down their names just in case something came up. Luckily, that was just in time for our fourth-graders to get involved! We were made aware of the family, raised the money for the four children ages 3-8, bought presents, wrapped the presents, then sang carols for them, and gave the family their presents. Finally, we finished up the afternoon with some ball games in their front yard.
What a blessing this was for all of us: the family, and the fourth-graders. All of our hearts were opened up and touched by the kindness of these kids, our Darlington parents, and the family in need!! This is what Christmas is truly all about!!! Merry Christmas from the fourth grade!
