Senior Megan Pinkley has been named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for September.

A boarding student who has been enrolled at Darlington since tenth grade, Pinkley has taken 14 Honors and AP classes. She is head residential prefect in Cooper House and is a member of The Darlington Players theater program, Concert Choir, The Darlingtones female a cappella group, as well as the varsity cross country team.

"Megan is admired by classmates and faculty alike for her determination, kindness and steady leadership," said her advisor, Tara Inman, dean of community life. "As a head prefect, she leads by example and helps set a positive tone in our community. Her passion for the arts shines through in choir, The Darlingtones, and technical theater, where she also volunteers her talents to support Pre-K to 8 productions. Academically, she challenges herself at every turn and is one of the most diligent and passionate learners I have known. Her positive spirit and willingness to jump in wherever she’s needed have left a lasting mark on our community."

Head of Cooper House Rebecca Nolin agreed. "Megan has been an excellent addition to residential life over the last three years," she said. "She’s always willing to go above and beyond to help others and has made the most of her time here at Darlington. She’s a fantastic head prefect and we are very proud of her in Cooper House."

Originally from Raleigh, N.C., Pinkley will be honored at an Optimist Club luncheon on Sept. 9.
