Day #SeniorSpotlight: Maggie Beth Jackson

Maddie Chastain | April 13, 2025 | 240 views

A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

Let’s get to know Maggie Beth Jackson, a four-year day student from Rome whose favorite thing about Darlington is the flexibility in the schedule.

When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
Community, Honor, Wisdom

What song reminds you of high school?
"Don't Blink” by Kenny Chesney

What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“Grey's Anatomy” and “Gilmore Girls”

What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?
Blossom Hill

What house are you a member of?
Thornwood

What are you involved in?
Cheer captain for sideline cheer, “Y” Cabinet, Student Activities Committee (secretary) , HOSA, Advancement Ambassadors, DarFarm, Spanish Club

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
Mrs. Guest because I can always talk to her about anything!

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
Ms. Shores' room, because it's a fun environment, and Ms. Shores is a fun person to talk to. Even when her room is busy, it is still nice to go in there and have a place where you can talk to your friends, get work done, or write on her board.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Ms. Haynes and Ms. Shores are two of my favorite teachers. Ms. Haynes is super positive and has been really helpful and uplifting throughout the entire college application process. Ms. Shores is a super-funny person and even though I don't have APUSH with her anymore, I still come to her classroom during office hours just to talk to her.

What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
The free periods are super nice because if you have a big test that week, you can use that time to study, or chat with your friends if you don't have a test. It's also nice to be able to leave during that time. I also love that you can meet people from all over the world, and become friends with them.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
RUMPUS is a super-fun experience that I've had at Darlington because you get to make new friends with people in your house that you may have not made without it. I love dancing in Lip Sync at RUMPUS because the skits are super funny and it's very rewarding to get to be a part of something like that, especially if you win.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
Darlington has made me more outgoing and talkative. I feel like I came out of my shell, and because of extracurriculars like cheer. I made a lot of friends that I would not have made without it. It has also made me more understanding of others’ backgrounds.

What is your dream job?
My dream job is to be a cardiovascular physician assistant
