Boarding #SeniorSpotlight: LC Musgrave

A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

Let’s get to know LC Musgrave, a two-year boarding student from Lexington, Ky., who will be attending the University of Tennessee Knoxville this fall with plans to be a pediatric nurse.

When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
Community, Thornwood, Friendship

What song reminds you of high school?
"Til You Can't” by Cody Johnson

What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“Grey's Anatomy”

What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?
Blue Fin

What house are you a member of?
Thornwood

What are you involved in?
HOSA fundraising chair, varsity track and cross country, Math Honors Guild

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
Coach Evans is my favorite coach because he encouraged me as a runner to improve and always give my best. His coaching made the switch from soccer to running a lot easier, which I have greatly appreciated.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
My favorite place on campus is the downstairs lounge in Thornwood. I love getting to hang out with my friends and it helps me feel like I have a family away from home.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
My favorite teacher is Mr. Shorey because he pushes me to do the best I can and is always there to help me when I need it.

What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
My favorite thing about Darlington is living in the dorms because I have made some of my best friends who are now like family to me.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
Being part of the Girls’ Soccer Academy last year was an experience of a lifetime. I was able to pursue my passion of playing at a high level and got to see many cool places such as Charleston, S.C., during our travels. It was also a cool experience to go to school with my teammates because at home I had always travelled far from home for my team.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
When I first came to Darlington, I had found my identity in soccer and not much else. However, when I had to stop playing, I had to figure out who I was off of the field. Thankfully, the friends I have made at Darlington have helped me branch out and enjoy life away from soccer. I have tried new things like running track and got to participate in RUMPUS which is definitely a highlight of my time here.

What is your dream job?
I want to be a pediatric nurse.

If you have already committed to a college, please let us know which one you will be attending.
I will be attending the University of Tennessee Knoxville in their Chancellor's Honors Program and College of Nursing.
