Boarding #SeniorSpotlight: Roxanne Meder

Maddie Chastain | April 8, 2025 | 128 views

A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

Let’s get to know Roxanne Meder, a four-year boarding student from South Africa who enjoys hanging out in the Dar Shop.

When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
Community, diversity and growth

What song reminds you of high school?
“Teenage Fever”

What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“Gilmore Girls”

What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?
Mellow Mushroom

What house are you a member of?
Cooper

What are you involved in?
BSU and soccer. I did cheer in the past and was on the Prom Committee junior year.

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach?
Coach Ellie

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
Dar Shop because Ms. Andrews is a very easy person to talk to and the shop is a place to laugh and have fun in.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Mrs. Everhart - she’s not really a teacher but she’s faculty and she’s like a second mom to me. She’s always proud of my accomplishments and she is a great person to talk to.

What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
The boarding aspect because it’s like a different little world outside of the day students. You make different connections and meet new people from all around and make unforgettable friendships.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
RUMPUS - for me, RUMPUS is not something you could experience at any school. It’s hard to explain to other people. It’s something you have to experience, but it’s so fun and it’s an incredible experience.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I’m more independent.

What is your dream job?
To work in hospitality or social media for Formula One.
