Hunt, Fitzwilliam to speak at Commencement Weekend events

Commencement Weekend speakers will include Kevin Hunt, assistant athletic director, at Baccalaureate and Wendy Fitzwilliam, a business executive and entrepreneur, at Commencement. Both have children in the Class of 2025. 

Selected to speak by the senior class, Hunt has been a member of Darlington's athletics faculty since 2007. He has served as assistant athletic director and athletic coordinator for Pre-K to 8 since 2023, and is also the head of the physical eduation department and head girls' and boys' track and field coach. Previously, he taught P.E. and coached varsity football, serving as assistant head football coach, defensive coordinator, and linebackers coach for the Tigers. Hunt is a graduate of the University of West Georgia, where he played football. He and his wife, Kristy, are the parents of Jacob (’17), Karoline (’20) and Emma (’25).

Fitzwilliam has over 25 years of international experience advising government officials, corporate executives, NGO leaders, and academics. Trained as a lawyer, she was appointed Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations and served in that capacity for over 15 years. She currently serves as the chairman of Dynamic 1 Group, an international holding company with diverse ownership interests in gaming, entertainment, mining, technology, and security in the Caribbean and Africa. Previously, Fitzwilliam advised multiple state and private sector entities in Africa and the Caribbean on capital raising, business development, and key stakeholder engagement. She has also served as executive producer and host of popular television and radio programs in the Caribbean, including "Caribbean's Next Top Model"; a weekly columnist for a leading national newspaper; and has written a best-selling book on motherhood, "Letters to Ailan." She was appointed Ambassador of Youth by the International Red Cross, is the founder and chairman of The Hibiscus Foundation (a children’s charity) and was crowned Miss Universe in 1998. She is the mother of Ailan Panton ('25). 

Baccalaureate will take place Friday, May 16, at 7 p.m. in Morris Chapel. Commencement will be held Saturday, May 17, at 9:30 a.m. on the Chapel Lawn. In the event of rain, it will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Huffman Athletic Center. Darlington will stream both events on YouTube.
