Senior Aiden Parsa was named the Rome Noon Optimist All-Around Student of the Year after being selected as Darlington School's nominee.

"Aiden Parsa is a truly exceptional young man," said Brant Evans, dean of student life and Parsa's college adviser. "I have only seen a couple of students in my 16 years of teaching that possess the drive to excel that Aiden displays. The way in which he sets himself apart, however, is that this drive is not secluded to one area. In the classroom he is consistently thorough in his preparation for the smallest assignment to the most difficult test. In cross country and track he trains harder than any runner I have coached, and transformed himself from a good distance runner to a great one. As the editor-in-chief on the Jabberwokk yearbook staff or head day prefect in the dorm, that same drive and preparation has allowed him to lead his peers through a successful year in both endeavors without having to sacrifice his performance in other areas. Despite his work ethic and his accomplishments, his best characteristic is that he is an extraordinarily good person. He is humble, kind, considerate and a dedicated friend."

A four-year day student from Rome, Parsa has taken eight Honors and seven AP courses at Darlington. He is currently enrolled in five AP courses and is a member of the Senior Ventures program, Mu Alpha Theta, the National Honor Society, and the Quill and Scroll Honor Society. Parsa serves as head day prefect of Summerbell House, editor-in-chief of the Jabberwokk yearbook, president of the Dar Tech Team and is a Student Council representative. He also competes on the varsity track and field, swim, and cross country teams.

He is the son of Suzanne and Dr. Cyrus Parsa.

Parsa was honored along with the other top three finalists at a banquet on Tuesday, April 16, where he received a $1,200 scholarship from the Noon Optimist Club.
