A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

Let’s get to know Kayo Lufadeju, a 13-year day student from Rome who says he loves going to school with people from all over the world.

When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
Summerbell, chapel, Tigers

What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“Suits”

What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?
Ichiban

What house are you a member of?
Summerbell (I love the fish)

What are you involved in at Darlington?
BSU, Discipline Committee, soccer (captain), Orchestra (president)

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
Definitely Coach Roy because he is so down to earth, always keeps my head on straight, and is also very funny sometimes.

If you are involved in fine arts, what is your favorite activity and why?
Probably Lessons & Carols because I love the songs we play for that specific event. Whenever we play “We Three Kings,” I get chills sometimes even though I've played it a countless number of times. I also got to play a solo this year, so it was a very nerve-racking but exciting experience.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
The training room because it's always warm, I get to recover after being sore or injured, and Donny is also one of my favorite people on this earth.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
I love Mr. Evans because he is always willing to help, and he also knows so much about what he teaches so he always answered my questions and was able to provide useful insight in all of our classes. I also love Mrs. Haynes because she is very encouraging, always makes sure I can comprehend the things we learn about, and is very understanding as well.

What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
I love being able to meet people from all across the world and learn about their experiences every day. Having so many different cultures and perspectives in one environment makes life at Darlington really interesting, and it always keeps me on my toes.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
RUMPUS is something that you can't get anywhere else. The competitive nature of it, the stress of preparing, and how rewarding it was after we won this past year. Even though it is a long, grueling, and tiring few weeks, I always pour my heart and soul into it every year. It's also really nice because you get to see the day and the dorm students together for one weekend all cheering our houses on. Winning RUMPUS was definitely one of the top 5 moments of my life.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I think I've just grown up in general considering I've been here for a while. But I think I've matured over the years and learned to not be afraid of making mistakes. Making mistakes is how we grow at this age so I think having that mindset has helped me quite a bit.

What is your dream job?
Being a senator. I would love to work in the government and politics interest me quite a bit.
