The Darlington Chapter of the Cum Laude Society inducted 26 students during a ceremony in Morris Chapel on Thursday, April 13.

According to Upper School science teacher Mike Hudson ('94, LD '18), Chapter president, membership in the Cum Laude Society is the highest academic honor Darlington can bestow upon a group of students. Election is highly selective. In order to be eligible for consideration, a student must have an A (93) for all four years; must have taken at least 10 Honors and AP courses (five of which must be AP courses) over four years; students must also have demonstrated good character, honor, and integrity in all aspects of their school life. Not all students who meet these criteria will necessarily be elected, as membership is limited by The Cum Laude Society's national rules to maximum of 20% of each senior class.

Inductees included Ndiana-Abasi Ogechukwu Akpan, Braden James Bell, Belle Anna Brooks, Connor Bouton Brown, Elizabeth Allen Cordell, John Alfred Cowan, Georgeanna Ray Dempsey, Anaya Minesh Desai, Daniel Richard Donadio, Yuchen Han, Ava Gabrielle Herring, Wesley Jennings Inman, Allison Frances King, Philip Henry Lataif, Jonna Alyce Massey, Shayali T. Patel, Addison Eliza Payne, Collin Brenton Rego, Ella Suzanne Roberts, Katherine Gilstrap Scott, Hamilton Mark Shamblin, Anna Reese Shaw, Sophia Kathlene Shumate, Sheng Wang, Caroline Alysse Warden and Haoyu Yang.

"Excellence and honor are concepts at the heart of both The Cum Laude Society and Darlington School," said Hudson. "The students we recognized have shown, through their work at Darlington, that they represent these qualities. We are happy to see what they have accomplished and hope to see them carry their good work forward throughout their lives."
