In this episode, Head of School Brent Bell talks with girls' varsity coaches Reid Owens (tennis), Al Shorey (soccer), Melissa Smyly (lacrosse) and Kevin Hunt (track and field) about the spring athletic season at Darlington. You'll hear a little about each team and what we might expect to see over the next few months. Note: This epsiode was recorded on March 15, 2021, and unfortunately Jared Willerson (golf) was unable to attend due to a golf tournament.
Reid Owens has taught Spanish at the Upper School since 2017 and is the head coach of the boys' and girls' tennis teams.
Al Shorey has taught math at the Upper School since 2013 and is the head coach of the boys' and girls' soccer teams.
Melissa Smyly has taught English at the Upper School since 2017 and is the head coach of the girls' lacrosse team.
Kevin Hunt has taught P.E. and coached at Darlington since 2007. He is the head coach of the boys' and girls' varsity track and field teams and the assistant head football coach, serving as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach as well.
