Fifth-graders read Gary Paulsen's adventure novel, "Hatchet," over the summer. The story's protagonist, Brian, must find a way to survive in the Canadian wilderness after his plane crashes. As part of our annual "Hatchet" Day, students were challenged with creating their own fishing pole to catch fish in Silver Lake.
