Michael Jacobs, Upper School librarian, has been named program coordinator for Georgia Independent School Librarians. In this capacity, she is responsible for planning in person and virtual meetings for librarians across the state.

"I'm excited that Michael will lead GISL as the program coordinator," said Melinda Holmes, director of library services. "She will have many opportunities to network with other librarians from across Georgia in this role, and she will gain valuable experience in planning and organizing speakers and resources for meetings."

Jacobs has been a member of Darlington's faculty since 2012. She holds a B.A. in English from Berry College and a Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of Alabama. In addition to her role with GISL, Jacobs is also a member of the American Library Association's American Association of School Libraries and Young Adult Library Services Association divisions.

An active organization in Georgia for more than 20 years, GISL exists to promote the discipline and value of librarianship in the state, to provide leadership and mentoring, and to strengthen professional ties between independent schools on both a statewide and a national level. It also aims to support its colleagues through the sharing of professional knowledge and ideas, information and experiences related to all aspects of this discipline.
