At Darlington, the first day of your senior year is spent in College Boot Camp, a day-long workshop that gives our students a head start in the college admission process.
To begin the morning, seniors meet with their college advisors and turn in their completed Common Application, a printed copy of their resume, and a list of colleges to which they plan to apply. After doughnuts and catching up with friends, they hear from a panel of visiting deans and directors of admission from colleges and universities from across the country.
After the full group session, it’s time for everyone to attend break-out sessions led by the visiting college admission representatives. These sessions cover everything from essay writing and financial aid to making the most of campus visits and transitioning from high school to college.
By the end of the day, our seniors have a strong grasp on what is involved in the college application process and have had the opportunity to ask questions and explore their options. This wouldn’t be possible without the involvement of our special guests, who not only participate in a Q & A panel but lead all of the break-out sessions.
