Freshman David Hagler recently traveled to Ringgold, Ga. to play the French horn in a District 7 Honor Band performance on Saturday.
Hagler is the sole Upper School representative in the Honor Band.

"Throughout the weekend, we practiced five pieces of music and over the course of 13 hours of rehearsals we were able to prepare for the concert on Saturday afternoon," said Hagler. "I really enjoyed seeing my old friends from previous district bands and had a great time meeting new people."

Hagler was chosen for the band following a District 7 audition in December. There he received the top score in his instrument by a panel of experts.
"I'm very proud of David," said Will Camp, Darlington's director of instrumental music. "He has really put in the individual time necessary to earn such an honor."

In addition to his training and studies at Darlington, Hagler also takes private lessons from Rome-based music instructor Carlye June.

"David is such an asset to the program here," said Camp. "He has worked very hard this year as he made the transition to a new school and a new band."

Hagler is the son of Susan and Lawson Hagler of Rome.
