Darlington School’s Cynde Reneau, instructional technology coordinator, was recently featured online as a contributing author for the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
Reneau’s article titled “A New Twist on Cyberbullying” was chosen for inclusion on ISTE’s website and published during Digital Citizenship Week in October. The event is used as a way to heighten awareness and encourage Internet users of all ages to act responsibly online and whenever using digital tools.
In her article, Reneau offers an alternative to forbidding students from engaging in certain online activities, instead showing scenarios that students can relate to from everyday experiences. She also writes about the importance of giving students the tools and resources to combat cyberbullying, instead of simply directing them not to do it.
Reneau worked directly with ISTE editors and staff to publish the online article, which had its roots in a blog series that was first featured on www.DarlingtonSchool.org.
The article can by accessed by clicking here.
“When faculty members like Cynde publish articles or speak at conferences, they are not only helping to educate their peers but are also highlighting Darlington’s standing as an innovative and successful institution,” said Stefan Eady, Darlington’s director of information technology.
Reneau has been the instructional technology coordinator at Darlington since July 2011. She has two decades of experience in educational technology, and is an Apple Certified Trainer. Reneau holds a Bachelor of Science in political science and history and a Master of Education in instructional technology from Kennesaw State University.
ISTE is a non-profit organization that serves educators and others in the education field, working to connect learners to resources within the industry through technology.
