Rome News-Tribune article about the local soccer teams, including Darlington's boys, who will compete in round 1 of state today at 5:30 p.m. Darlington (11-4) finished as the No. 2 seed from Area 7 and gets a first-round home game today against Holy Innocents’, the No. 3 seed from Area 6.
The Tigers are led by a strong group of seniors, including goalkeeper Sidney Wright, midfielders Ali Kayahan and Joseph Kitson-Mills, and defenders Luke Sikinyi and Hector Picon. Wright has recorded five shutouts this season.
"The Tigers completed a successful regular season that saw them go 9-3 in region play," said head coach Chris Babb. "Region wins included three overtime victories by penalty kicks."
The Tigers also boast three members of the All-Area team, as voted on by Area coaches, including Wright, sophomore striker and leading scorer Will Sparks and sophomore midfielder/defender Tanner Berry.
