Five new members were elected to Darlington School's Board of Trustees during the May meeting and three life trustees were named.
Dwight Hutchins (’82) of Washington, D.C., is a partner at Accenture. He is the former chairman of the Board of Visitors and a member of the J.J. Darlington Society. He and his wife, Maria Castillo-Ruiz, have one daughter.
John Irby (’81) of Atlanta is a managing partner at Wilson, Brock & Irby LLC. He is a former chairman of the Board of Trustees, a member of the Second Century Campaign Cabinet and a member of the J.J. Darlington Society. He and his wife, Abby, have three daughters.
Robert H. Ledbetter Jr. (’84) is executive vice president for development at R.H. Ledbetter Properties Inc. He is a former trustee, a member of the Second Century Campaign’s Northwest Georgia Cabinet and a member of the J.J. Darlington Society. He and his wife, Patti, are the parents of current students Bob (’16), Hollis (’17) and Kathryne (’19). His father, Robert H. Ledbetter Sr. (’53), graduated from Darlington as did his brothers, Wright (’85) and David (’88), and several other relatives. His grandfather, E.L. Wright, was a former headmaster and president of the school.
Scott Whitworth (’93) of New York City is a managing partner at WM Capital Partners. He and his wife, Carlisle, have two children.
Larry Williams (’67) of Atlanta is president of Breckenridge Group Inc. He is a former trustee, a member of the Second Century Campaign’s Atlanta Cabinet and a member of the J.J. Darlington Society. He and his wife, Yeardley, have one grown daughter.
Life trustees include Suzy Gilbert of Rome as well as George Johnson (’54) and Billy Mitchell (’58) of Atlanta.
Gilbert is a former trustee, a member of the Second Century Campaign’s Northwest Georgia Cabinet and a member of the J.J. Darlington Society. She and her husband, Pete (’57), are the parents of Barritt Gilbert (’83), Amy (Gilbert) Carter (’85) and Ivy (Gilbert) Spencer (’86). They have eight grandchildren, including William (’11), Lizzy (’12), Thomas (’14) and Mary Harbin Gilbert (’18).
Johnson is the owner of George H. Johnson Properties. He is a former trustee, co-chairman of the Second Century Campaign, a Distinguished Alumnus and a member of the J.J. Darlington Society. He and his wife, Janet, have three grown children.
Mitchell is the retired president of Carter & Associates LLC. He is a former chairman of the Board of Trustees, co-chairman of the Second Century Campaign’s Atlanta Cabinet, a Distinguished Alumnus and a member of the J.J. Darlington Society. He and his wife, Gladys, have two grown children.
