Fourth-grade teacher Lola Bradshaw was named the Lower School’s Best Mannered Teacher by the National League of Junior Cotillions, Three Rivers Chapter. She joins representatives from other area schools in Rome and Floyd County.

“Teachers have a powerful influence on their students,” said Lou Ella Hobgood, director of the Three Rivers Chapter. “It is our pleasure to recognize teachers who inspire by example.”

Teachers were nominated by cotillion members who wrote an essay describing why their teacher should win the designation based on Junior Cotillion’s mission statement, which emphasizes treating others with honor, dignity and respect.

Darlington sixth-graders Harris Burton and Camille Temples were proud to nominate Bradshaw for this honor.

“[Mrs. Bradshaw] is always trying to help everyone, including neighbors, family, friends, faculty members, our school director and headmaster, and children,” said Temples. “If you need anything, she is the teacher to talk to. She also tells the best stories … and will loan you anything you need.”

“[Mrs. Bradshaw] was nice and very polite about everything,” added Burton. “She would answer the phone, ‘Hello, this is the fourth-grade classroom of Lola Bradshaw.’ She was just a very good mannered lady.”
