Director of Alumni Relations


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and implement a comprehensive strategy to engage and connect with a diverse alumni base of over 8,000 individuals
  • Oversee alumni volunteers, including the identification, recruitment, and engagement of members for key alumni leadership roles
  • Develop and sustain meaningful relationships with alumni by managing programs, including the Alumni Council, Young Alumni Council, Class Agents, and other initiatives that foster a lifelong connection to Darlington
  • Plan and coordinate a variety of alumni events, including Alumni Weekend, Leadership Darlington retreat, reunions, networking receptions, speaker series, and other volunteer initiatives
  • Manage the Darlington Connects program, focusing on strategy and growth to enhance networking and Darlington connections across all constituents
  • Collaborate with the Communication Office on alumni messaging for print, digital, and social platforms
  • Partner with the fundraising team to develop strategies that increase alumni participation
  • Support fundraising initiatives, particularly those focused on engagement of alumni donors
  • Prepare and monitor the budget of the Alumni Relations division
  • Support all Advancement projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

  • Believe in and support the mission of Darlington School
  • Possess loyalty to a team; willing spirit in supporting team projects and team members
  • Demonstrated experience working with volunteers, including recruitment, training, and engagement
  • Service-oriented problem-solver who is able to successfully work with diverse individuals
  • Highly organized with strong attention to deadlines, detail and accuracy in a fluid environment
  • Exhibit collaborative spirit when responding to emerging or unplanned projects
  • Excellent oral, written, telephone and email communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituents
  • Strong computer skills, including high competency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, and experience with Raiser's Edge, Veracross, or other CMR fundraising database
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and think critically, strategically, and creatively while maintaining attention to details
  • Willingness to travel, as required, and to work evenings and weekends, as necessary
  • Bachelor's degree (in communications, nonprofit management, public relations, or related field) with five to seven years of experience
