Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in composition, literature, grammar, and analysis
  • Broad knowledge of and experience with current best practices in curriculum and instruction
  • Genuine love of middle school age students and a desire to work with all types of learners
  • Experience working and collaborating with the learning center
  • Positive and contributing member of the professional learning community
  • Extraordinary communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in use of technology, especially knowledge of Google classroom
  • A desire to work in a highly collaborative environment

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement classroom lessons centered on literary analysis, composition, and grammar
  • Assign relevant coursework, create and administer assessments, and evaluate and measure student progress
  • Use a wide variety of creative teaching methods and demonstrations that actively engage students
  • Differentiate classroom materials and presentations as needed to allow for learning differences among students and across classes
  • Manage frequent and ongoing verbal and written communication with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Be willing to commit to additional responsibilities in regards to extracurricular activities, clubs, and/or coaching
  • Be available and present to help students before and during school day
  • Be comfortable incorporating use of Macbook Air laptops as a means for students to write reports, research topics, share work, and submit assignments in classroom setting
  • Collaborate on curriculum design with colleagues and develop ongoing opportunities for interdisciplinary units of study
  • Collaborate with colleagues on teaching techniques and classroom initiatives
  • Pursue professional development opportunities
