A group of students from Senior Ventures, robotics, and AP Environmental Science toured Marglen Industries. Marglen is our school's recycling provider and one of only a handful of businesses in the U.S. that produces recycled plastic fiber from bottles. The fiber has numerous commercial and consumer applications, including clothing and food packaging. Ellie Allen ('23) and Shayali Patel ('23) are working with President of Marglen Industries Ben McElrath ('02, LD '15) and faculty members to develop a sustainable recycling program for aluminum cans and plastic bottles at Darlington. Having an opportunity to tour Marglen Industries and learn what happens to the cans and bottles our community recycles was important to this process. McElrath provides a recycling trailer behind the Upper School dining hall where anyone is welcome to recycle their aluminum cans and plastic bottles.
