Day #SeniorSpotlight: Elliot Luitwieler

Tannika King | March 19, 2022 | 233 views

A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

In this #SeniorSpotlight, get to know Elliot Luitwieler, a six-year day student from Rome who loves to write and play music.

When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
Graduation, friends, rules

When you think of high school, what song comes to mind?
“Coals” by Modern Baseball

What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson”

What house are you a member of?
Moser House

What are you involved in at Darlington?
President of the Random Notes a cappella choir and student leader of the Darlington Student Arts Council

If you are involved in the arts, what is your favorite activity and why?
Choir has always been really fun. The teachers I've had in that class are both amazing teachers and people (Mrs. Johnson and Mr. McVety).

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
My house because I can just relax there.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Mrs. Johnson is really nice and fun; she puts up with me talking too much in her class (I mean, I get in trouble but in an ok way). Mr. Bruce is awesome, too. He's shaved my head twice and both times he did it really well; he's also hilarious.

What's your favorite thing about Darlington?
The campus gives everyone a place to be in their free time – like, musicians can go play in the band room pretty much whatever, which I think is really cool.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
Recording an album and learning how to use a lot of really good recording equipment in Darlington's recording room.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I've learned to not take everything so serious, myself included.

Where do you want to go to college and what is your dream job?
I want to go to either Loyola University in New Orleans or Pitt in Pittsburgh. My dream job is to tour in a band or manage a band or have my own recording studio.
