The mother of kindergartener Neelley and fourth-grader Caroline, Molly Jordan now has a new role within the school community as Darlington's second-grade teacher. She looks forward to building relationships with her students and their families and to seeing them grow throughout the year.

"Being the daughter of a school teacher, I always claimed I didn't want to teach -- so much so that I pursued a degree in communication," Jordan said. "I remember a conversation with my mom and she told me to really think about what made me happy, what gave me joy. I immediately thought of my fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Morris. I thought about not only how I loved her class but how she loved me. I wanted to be that -- I wanted to be like Mrs. Morris. I finished at Auburn, moved home and immediately began to pursue my degree in early childhood."

Armed with a B.A. in Communication from Auburn University, an M.Ed. from Jacksonville State University, and an Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University, Jordan taught in the Polk School District for 13 years. She spent the last 11 of those years as a second-grade teacher.

Her teaching philosophy is rooted in her days as an Auburn Tiger.

"The Auburn Creed begins, 'I believe that this is a practical world and that I can count only on what I earn. Therefore, I believe in work, hard work. I believe in education, which gives me the knowledge to work wisely and trains my mind and my hands to work skillfully...'" Jordan said. "I believe the words but not only do I believe these words, I work to live these words. I do believe in work and education and working for the best education. Every child learns differently and our job as educators is to provide opportunities for them to learn and grow."

When she's not in her classroom, the new second-grade teacher enjoys spending time with her husband, Jason, and being a mom to her daughters and son, Stuart. She also likes reading, shopping, and Auburn football.
