For many children, birthdays are considered to be one of the most important days of their lives. While a number of organizations help make holidays special, far fewer focus on birthdays. This can leave under resourced children unable to fully celebrate their special day.
Brighter Birthdays’ mission is to change this. Founded in 2017, Brighter Birthdays is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) service organization dedicated to giving under resourced children brighter birthdays. They provide students in the Rome City and Floyd County School systems with birthday bags filled with party supplies, treats, crafts, toys and basic living essentials. You can learn more about this organization at this link. The Senior Ventures class volunteered to pack bags, organize supplies, create birthday cards, and they donated birthday napkins and plates.
Senior Ventures is a year-long academic program built on a framework of leadership, innovation and community engagement. Through a proven self-guided exploratory process, seniors whose proposals are selected for this program work independently to develop a project that’s interdisciplinary in scope and is connective, performance-based, investigative, or entrepreneurial.
