The first-graders celebrated “National Talk Like a Pirate Day” with special activities and surprises. The students dressed as pirates and even got their own pirate name. The day began as the children listened to Chief Advancement Officer Julie Lucas ('97) read an old Darlington story, “The Legend of Red Beard and the Buried Treasure.” Following a fun snack and a scavenger hunt around the lake for clues left by Red Beard, the class worked in groups to create their own pirate flag. The fun continued with a special lunch, a treasure hunt and a treasure chest piñata. It was a day full of imagination, wonder and fun!
