During the dolphin lab study, the students learned how to identify feeding apparatus of dolphins, including the teeth or baleen and food sources used by different species of whales. Part of the virtual study showed the students how to recognize major differences between the teeth of dolphins and baleen whales and know about the migration path of the Northern Right whale. They also learned about health issues dolphins face living in coastal Georgia. The marine educator showed the students how to identify external structures on the dolphin including their blow hole, flippers, and melon. The students learned about behaviors that dolphins display like chuffing and mudding.
