Thank you to Dr. Omar Ahmed (’01), who made his first ever gift to The Darlington Fund last year and joined the J.J. Darlington Society, our leadership giving society.

Omar attended Darlington as a resident student and graduated in 2001. His older sister, Shazia (‘95), attended Darlington and he followed her to the school. He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan and spent part of his childhood in Chicago, Ill., before his family moved to Georgia.

Omar currently lives in Richmond, Va., where he is an internal medicine physician working at a level 1 trauma center during nights to admit patients and assist in managing and coordinating their care.

Dr. Ahmed said that he was able to obtain a valuable education at Darlington with the assistance of educational grants. “I am grateful for the chance that others gave me and now feel that it is my turn to give others the same opportunity," he said. "As Winston Churchill once said, ‘We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.’”

Thank you, Omar, for continuing to support The Darlington Fund!
