A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

In this #SeniorSpotlight get to know Tanya Maples, a four-year boarding student from Huntsville, Ala. and head residential prefect of Thornwood House.

When you think of high school, what song comes to mind?

“Good Old Days” by Macklemore

What's your favorite show to binge on Netflix?

My favorite show to watch is “Criminal Minds.”

What house are you a member of?

Thornwood House

What are you involved in at Darlington?

Head residential prefect in the dorm, soccer, volleyball, Senior Ventures

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?

Coach Shorey is my favorite coach because he pushes me to be the best that I can be and takes time to get to know me.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?

My favorite place on campus is the dorms because that’s where I get to spend time with my friends and just relax after school.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?

My favorite teachers at the moment are Mr. Hudson and Mrs. King because they always make class entertaining and are always there to help me with any questions.

What's your favorite thing about Darlington?

My favorite thing about Darlington is the community and how everyone takes time to get to know each other and make a connection.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.

RUMPUS (our weekend-long competition between the houses)  because that’s where every dorm has an opportunity to get closer to each other and make some memories that will last a lifetime.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?

I would say I have grown to be a leader, which I would have never thought I’d be, and I have done things at Darlington that I wouldn’t ever thought that I was capable of doing.

Where do you want to go to college and what is your dream job?
