ELA-8 Summer Reading Incentive Program for Students

It's summer time--which means it's time for summer reading! The ELA-8 librarians would like to invite all rising ELA-8 students to participate in a special reading incentive program this summer.

The only requirement of the program is for students to keep track of the number of days over the summer when they read for at least 20 minutes. There is a printable summer reading calendar available here to help families keep track of the days.

There are no limits on the type of reading that students can complete. Fiction and nonfiction books, picture books and chapter books, short stories, comic books and graphic novels, poetry books, arts & crafts books, magazines, and newspapers will all count toward the twenty minutes per day.

The rewards:

  • For 30 days of reading: A Tiger Day
  • For 45 days of reading: A mystery bag of goodies (and a Tiger Day)
  • For 60 days of reading: A pizza party (and a Tiger Day and a mystery bag of goodies)

And, in addition to winning a Tiger Day, a mystery bag, and a pizza party, (and not to mention becoming so much smarter from so much reading!), all those students who read at least 60 days this summer will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 gift card to either Barnes and Noble, iTunes, Starbucks, Jandy’s, or sweetFrog.

If you have any questions about this program, please feel free to email Mrs. Foster (grades ELA-2) or Mrs. Overberg (grades 3-8).

Happy reading!
