Fifty-one Darlington students have been recognized by the Duke University Talent Identification Program’s 5th and 6th Grade Talent Search, which honors those who have scored at the 95th percentile or higher on a grade-level achievement test.

“This is truly a testament to the type of students we have at Darlington,” said Academic Dean David Powell. "We are so proud of all of our fifth- and sixth-graders who qualified for this great honor."

The 27 fifth-graders receiving Duke TIP recognition include Eli Baldwin, Madeline Bradshaw, Joseph Brown, Amanda Buzzetti, Katie Carlton, John Andrew Cash, Cooper Cates, Lauren Childs, Ashlyn Earnest, Riccardo Frisiani, Emma Good, Zachary Jones, Joshua Land, Luke Lewis, Cora Linos, Cappie May, Luke McDurmon, Caroline McRay, Graysen Morgan, Garrett Price, Trinity Pyle, Caroline Richardson, Tate Roberts, Zacary Seijo, Knox Sirmans, Ivy Watters and Ashley Woods.

The 24 sixth-graders receiving Duke TIP recognition include Carter Anderson, Caleb Baldwin, Will Bowman, Blake Collier, Lindsey Cordell, Chloe Duck, John Deaton, Frances Fields, Aiden Gaines, Alex Liddle, Frank Manning, Teagan Martin, Jalyn Massey, Makiya Mayes, Kennan Milford, Kate Monroe, Kobe Nadu, Anish Patel, Chandler Pittman, Sophie Stepp, Camille Temple, Hampton Watkins, Grace Watters and Dawson Williams.

These students join the 36 Darlington seventh-graders who qualified for Duke TIP earlier this year. Since 1980, more than 2 million gifted students have participated in Duke TIP’s Talent Searches. The talent search program provides educational resources and opportunities to the qualifying students who choose to participate.
