The girls' Middle School track and field team was named area champion after winning the area meet at Pepperell Middle School on May 3. The boys' team finished third and had an individual event winner.

"I am very proud of our Middle School track teams," said head coach Darcy Liddle. "The girls won four of their six track meets this season, in addition to the title of area champ. The boys put forth a great effort as well."

Liddle added that several new Middle School records were set during the season. The 4x400 team, which consisted on Kinslee Clevenger, Lauren Hooper, Madeline Drummond and Anna Claire Atha, set a new record of 4:43, and were area champions in this event. Hooper was also area champion in the 1600 and Clevenger was area champion in the 800.

On the boys' team, Jared Deaton set a new school record in the 1600 with a time of 5:05. He was area champion in the 800.

"The girls beat Pepperell by only three points, and the Dragons are a team that hasn't been defeated in over eight years," Liddle said. "This win came down to the last event of the meet."
